Man Effigy in Wood, 2020 Pendant by Joel (Sargent Pepper) Briggs.
Recovered wood from the Man burning in 2016 and made into pendants in 2020.
Joel writes, “2016 was a fun Burn. It was with good friends and great times. What was a memorable moment when the Burning Man fell to the ground in fire and ash, and when we finally got to dance around it like wild savages, I came across a smoldering piece of wood. I remember picking it up and showing my friends. The crazy thing was, we started to run around with the smoldering piece and it flamed up. We waved it around and danced with its beautiful colors of fire. After that, we finished the last two bottles of champagne, and the rest of the night was a blur…
The following day, the wood was outside my overland door… I brought it home and decided I would make something out of it. In 2020, I made 32 2″ wooden Burning Man pendants from it. I do remember lasering, I thought I would get about 50. But the burned areas made many of the pieces brittle and they easily cracked (see picture of the cord loop).
I am trying to find pictures of that night… we have photos of us dancing with this piece of wood.

The cool thing about these pendants, each has unique burn marks.
