Black Rock City, 2017

Black Rock City, 2017 Pendant by Paul Delathauwer
This was the very first of 8 designs to be made. There were about 150 plus made in 2017 to 2018.

2017 was the first year Paul made Jewlery for the Burn. His method involved 3D and hand fabrication of pieces. Components were 3D Printed and were used to hand create different models. In house RTV molds were made and a special Brass Urethane casting coating method was developed to create a metal surface. 8 models were created for 2018 with a total production of around 200 pieces. A special gift box was made with a custom hinge to create a Jewlery Box which enhanced the gifting experience. The jewelry box also functioned as a safe transport for the piece to the default world.

Paul Delathauwer’s work is featured in several museums including the 2018 exhibit No Spectators at the Smithsonian’s Renwick Gallery in Washington D.C. He designs original art for Burning Man including installations, pendants, pins, patches and awards. Pauls work often incorporates a reliquarium where one can place something sacred or keepsake inside. A variety of items can be placed inside. A wide range of relics are kept in there from as Ashes of loved ones and Pets to Playa Dust which is the most common.
