Martini Village, 2018 Pendant
Martini Village, 2018 Pendant by Jonathan (Entomo) West.
Production by Jonathan (Entomo) West.
Martini Village is a gathering of camps or possibly a larger themed area (though the concept of formal “villages” has evolved at Burning Man), with an overall martini or lounge vibe. One notable camp within this theme is the Leopard Martini Lounge, which has been returning since 1998, serving top-shelf cocktails in a chill area and also offering a bike repair shop and daily fresh pie. Foot Note: Martini Village and Mohammed’s Mini Martini (also referred to as Mo’s Mini) are two different camps/offerings at Burning Man, although they both relate to the theme of martinis.
Jonathan (Entomo) West is a veteran of over 20 years and has been creating original pendants for a large variety of camps every year. He designs and machines brass pendants in his studio with a CNC Mill. He is one of the Playas most prolific and artistic makers. Each year he makes unique pendants for a large number of camps and are highly treasures by collectors.
His work has appeared in many Burning Man Artumnal annual fundraisers as well as being featured in Museums, including the 2018 exhibit No Spectators, the art of Burning Man at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC. and is published in Karen Christians Jewelry of Burning Man. p186-187
