The Burning Man Lamplighters are a team of volunteers who light over 1,000 kerosene lamps each night of the Burning Man festival. The lamps are placed on wooden spires that line the main walkways in Black Rock City, and the process of lighting takes about an hour and a half. The Lamplighters also guide people back to camp with lanterns and lead people to the wicker man’s torching. 

The Lamplighters have been an important part of the Burning Man tradition since 1993. The Lamplighters are dressed in white, flame-trim robes and turbans.
