Playa PostSecret

Playa Post Secret, 2019 Sticker by Lofax Elifas.

Lofax Elifas had the idea to bring PostSecret to the BRC in 2019. PostSecret is an ongoing community mail art project, created by Frank Warren in 2005, in which people mail their secrets anonymously on a homemade postcard. Working with its creator, Frank Warren they were able to bring the project as an art installation to BRC. Lofax then took a used armoire and turned it into Art Furniture, a postcard writing desk installation and came complete with a locked postcard depositing box. On the outside were framed postcards from the past participants of the project. Many of the submitted postcards were riveting and powerful. The piece was placed at Center Camp for all to participate.

Lofax Elifas is one of the most prolific makers of iconic artifacts treasured among collectors and burners alike. He has produced many unique items in different medias from patches, stickers to pendants, pins and even a pocket watch. In addition to making several of his own gifts every year, Lofax coordinates several large group runs of Burning Man Swag from Pendants, Stickers, Pins and Patches, producing thousands with each run. He works with makers with little or no production experience, often working with a napkin sketch or a chat of an idea to bring their art to life. He also has participated in the Sotheby’s “Boundless Space: The Possibilities of Burning Man” charitable fundraiser for BMP.
