Michael writes, “Theme was Beyond Belief, I used two optic nerves to make the zeros in 2003. My job at the time was doing eye photography. What made it Beyond Belief for eye nerds like myself, was that no single eye has two optic nerves. I used my own photo of the Man and photos of my own optic nerve and iris.
VARIANT: created three different IRIS colors to reflect the most common eyes, brown, blue and the original hazel was my own iris. Given to burners according to their own eye colors.”

Origin: Having learned about BURNING MAN in late Summer ‘97 and not being able to pull it together in time,
I had a whole year to plan for BM98. One idea I had was to use the laminator at my job to make for myself a
Backstage pass style tag. A co-worker who understood the Burner spirit, suggested that instead of just one,
I should make a bunch and give them out, So I made 50 of them and found out at BURNING MAN that these
laminates were an immediate hit.
