Hari Boukis “Ranger Socrates”, is a S. F. Bay Area native. Born in Oakland, he grew up in El Cerrito & Albany, graduated from U. C. Berkeley and eventually settled down in Walnut Creek CA, where he started and owned an advertising company and a computer consultancy.
After 30+ years in the business world, his life took a 180 when circumstances allowed him to shed his suit and tie, and embrace his inner artist. Now in blue jeans and Hawaiian shirts, he spends most of his spare time with family and volunteering for Rotary International and Burning Man.
Hari started burning in 2010 and joined the Black Rock Rangers in 2014. He designed his first “Ranger Love” medallion that year when he recognized the amount of love that individual rangers passionately expressed when volunteering. He makes a new design each year based on that event’s theme while keeping the “Black Rock Ranger Love” logo on the obverse of each medallion.
Other individuals and theme camps have asked Socrates to create designs for their camps and causes.
Socrates loves to talk philosophy, so please find him on Playa and budget a few hours to dive deep into the topic of the moment.
