Jamie writes, “I’d been working on the nuance parts of shadow work and this Burn was about releasing aspects of control, embracing the my shadow, and finding peace. I’m indigenous, so my tribal upbringing and working with wild animals helps me to conceptualize parts of myself and others as different kinds of animal spirits. This piece reflected the “vision” I have of a healthy shadow, vibrant and regal, given proper respect and acknowledgement. I didn’t feel comfortable doing something tribal in style, so leaned into my own.”
