Let’s ease into Burn Weekend, 2024 Pendant by Joel (Sargent Pepper) Briggs and Matt Kane.
This amazing pendant has the unique perspective of looking through the iconic Trash Fence. The unique feature is a safety orange trash fence overlay and the relief of the beautiful mountains of the Black Rock Desert in the background
Joel writes, “I will send 6oz of “real” Burning Man trash fence to be processed so it can be used in pendants and for paint.
The process is expensive and done professionally. But what we get is trash fence “chips” that are clean and will be used in pendants (see the Matt Kane pendant done last year using the same process), paint that has trash fence material and the same color.
The process will make 3.5 oz of chips that can easily be melted for art and 2 oz of trash fence plastic paint.”
Joel (Sargent Pepper) Briggs is one of the Playas most prolific and artistic makers. Each year he pushes the his concepts past the boundaries in both in material and production methods.
